Paul Thomas is Chief Commercial Officer, US for Biocon Biologics. In this role, Paul is based in Boston and is responsible for driving Biocon’s launches in the US, as well as oversight of the global Portfolio Strategy and Business Development functions. In his prior role based in Bangalore, Paul led Biocon’s worldwide commercialization efforts for its portfolio of biosimilar monoclonal antibodies, insulins/analogs, and other biosimilars. In his earlier Biosimilars Business Unit Head role, Paul provided strategic leadership for Biocon’s biosimilar mAb development, manufacturing, and commercialization activities for global markets, managed Biocon’s mAbs partnership with Mylan, and was responsible for multiple biosimilar manufacturing units as well as the business unit P&L.
Prior to joining Biocon in 2011, Paul was a US Marketing Director for Pfizer and held various marketing and strategic planning roles at Pfizer and Wyeth. In these roles, he has led healthcare professional marketing efforts for specialty and primary care customer segments, across salesforce-driven strategies, speaker programs, non-personal and digital marketing strategies, and integrated systems for evaluating marketing effectiveness. In Strategic Planning, Paul led strategic and financial evaluation and prioritization of pipeline investments for the Pharma and Vaccines business units.
Paul also spent several years working in environmental and technology consulting, and has had extensive experience living and working internationally in the US, Latin America, and Asia.
Paul holds an MBA degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University.
