Paul Thomas is Chief Commercial Officer, US for Biocon Biologics. In this role, Paul is based in Boston and responsible for building an innovative commercial team to support Biocon’s launches in the US and for working with Biocon’s partners in the US. In his prior role based in Bangalore, Paul led Biocon’s worldwide commercialization efforts for its portfolio of biosimilar monoclonal antibodies, insulins/analogs, and other biosimilars. In his prior Biosimilars Business Unit Head role, Paul provided strategic leadership for Biocon’s biosimilar mAb development, manufacturing, and commercialization activities for global markets, managed Biocon’s partnership with Mylan, and was responsible for multiple biosimilar manufacturing units as well as the business unit P&L.
Prior to joining Biocon in 2011, Paul was a Marketing Director for Pfizer in the US, and held various marketing and strategic planning roles at Pfizer and Wyeth. In these roles, he has led healthcare professional marketing efforts for various businesses and customer segments. His brand marketing leadership has ranged from salesforce-driven marketing strategies and tactics, to visiting speaker bureaus, to website and other non-personal promotion and relationship marketing channels, as well as systems for evaluating marketing effectiveness. In Strategic Planning, Paul led strategic and financial evaluation and prioritization of pipeline investments for the Pharma and Vaccines business units.
Paul also spent several years working in environmental and technology consulting, and has had extensive experience living and working internationally in the US, Latin America, and Asia.
Paul holds an MBA degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University.
