Steven Lucio is Senior Principal with the Center for Pharmacy Practice Excellence at Vizient, a health care performance improvement company in Irving, Texas. Throughout his tenure, he has had responsibility for providing clinical and educational resources on numerous practice topics including drug shortages mitigation, management of high cost pharmaceuticals, creation of a sustainable biosimilars market, improved regulatory adherence, and alignment of pricing and reimbursement with improved outcomes. Steven has helped support Vizient’s advocacy and public policy initiatives through written commentary as well as via public presentations. Prior to joining Vizient, Steven was a clinical pharmacists for almost 10 years within the Baylor Health Care System in both inpatient and ambulatory care. Steven received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University, his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. He is the author of multiple publications on biosimilars including the reference, Biosimilars and Biologics: Implementation and Monitoring in a Healthcare Setting. Steven is a frequent presenter on the topic of high cost drugs, drug shortages, health care advocacy, and the investigational drug pipeline. He resides in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife, Jennifer, a classically-trained, professional symphonic musician.
